Robert J. Morrissey, Jr., 48, of East Bridgewater, passed away Thursday, January 29, 2015 at his home under the care of his family and hospice after a courageous battle with cancer.  He was the beloved husband of Tammy M. (Desmond) Morrissey.

Born March 7, 1966 in South Boston, he was the son of Theresa N. (Cremin) Morrissey and the late Robert J. Morrissey.  Raised in Brockton, he was a graduate of Brockton High School in 1984.  He then received his B.A. in Criminal Justice from Bridgewater State University.  Bob served as a Sergeant in the United States Army Military Police during  Desert Storm.

Bob was a Brockton Police Officer for 20 years.  He was mostly assigned to the Detective Bureau and was recently promoted to Sergeant.

Bob had also worked for Freeman Decorating.  He enjoyed golfing and skiing with his son and taking family vacations especially on the Island of Nantucket   He has been a resident of East Bridgewater for 17 years.

In addition to his wife and mother, he is survived by his son, Cameron D. Morrissey; his siblings, Maureen Morrissey-Capen of Duxbury, Michele Morrissey Smith and her husband Douglas of Scituate and Michael Morrissey and his wife Sandy of FL; his father-in-law, Daniel J. Desmond; he is also survived by several nieces and nephews.  He was the brother of the late Daniel T. Graham.

Funeral Information

A funeral mass will be celebrated for the repose of his soul on Monday, February 9th at 11:00AM in St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton.  Interment will follow in the VA National Cemetery, Bourne.  Calling hours in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home on Sunday, February 8th from 1:00-6:00PM.
